Audita
Audita is a local macOS utility. It measures sound on your Mac and keeps every measurement on your device. There are no in-app analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry. The app reaches the network only for license validation and auto-update checks; each is described below.
Audita requests microphone / audio input permission so it can read the level from your chosen CoreAudio input device and compute SPL. Audio is analysed in real time to derive a level number - it is never recorded, saved, or transmitted. No audio leaves your Mac.
None that leaves your device. Session history, calibrations, dose figures, and preferences are stored locally on your Mac and are never uploaded.
Session history - including start/end times, dose percentages, average and peak SPL, and DAW names - is stored locally at ~/Library/Containers/com.headroom.Audita/Data/Library/Application Support/Audita/sessions.json.
This file never leaves your device. Sessions older than 90 days are pruned automatically on launch. The retention threshold (and a separate detailed-time-series retention) is user-configurable in Settings → General → Storage.
When you open a session report, Audita renders a PDF to a temporary location at ~/Library/Caches/Audita Reports/. The folder lives inside the standard macOS Caches directory; macOS manages cleanup on its own schedule. You can also empty it by hand at any time. The PDF is generated locally and only leaves your Mac if you actively share or save it through the macOS Share menu.
Audita ships an audita:// URL scheme and a bundle of App Intents for Shortcuts, Siri, and Focus filters. These are local automation surfaces. URL responses use x-callback-url, which sends the response payload to a URL you supply. Audita does not contact any remote service through these surfaces; if your callback URL points to a third party, that's your choice and that party's policy then applies. The intents and URL scheme are read-and-toggle only: they cannot change calibration, license state, or A/C-weighting coefficients.
When you activate or validate a license key, the app contacts the Lemon Squeezy licensing API to verify your key. Only your license key and a machine name are sent. No personal data is transmitted beyond what is required for activation. If the app cannot reach the server, it continues to run normally.
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, an external payment provider, whose privacy policy applies to the transaction. Headroom does not receive or store your payment details. See lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
When you use "Send to Lyra…", Audita opens a lyra:// URL on the same Mac to hand a slot number, a name, and a dB SPL value to Lyra. The handoff happens entirely between two local apps via macOS's URL handler. Nothing leaves your device.
The headroomstudio.dev website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-first service recording only aggregate pageviews, referrers, and country. This applies to the website only; the Audita app does not load these scripts.
If you subscribe to the Headroom Studio newsletter, your email address is stored and processed by MailerLite, an external email provider, solely to send the updates you opted in to. We collect only your email address, and only with your explicit consent (the checkbox on the signup form). Every email includes an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time. See MailerLite's privacy policy. The newsletter is entirely separate from the Audita app, which sends no email and loads no MailerLite code.
Audita uses Sparkle for automatic updates, periodically fetching the appcast at https://headroomstudio.dev/audita/appcast.xml. The request includes your macOS version and CPU architecture for compatibility; no personal data is transmitted.
If you're an EU or UK resident, you have GDPR rights to access, rectify, port, or delete personal data we hold. In practice, Audita holds no personal data on its own. The only personal data linked to you anywhere is what Lemon Squeezy receives at checkout (email address, billing info). To exercise any of these rights, email hello@headroomstudio.dev.
